About me

I grew up in Scotland dreaming of explorations and wildlife; I was the sort of child who brought home frogs and insects. I had an odd little collection of bones, feathers, rocks and paraphernalia that curated a sort of morbid museum of how everything fits into the world, with my prize being a fossil, what I thought was a whale vertebrate (probably a cow) and a whole intact fox skull! I was the sort of girl that didn’t take no for an answer and still won’t. I made friends with the local pets, fed my grandparents foxes with their gardener and proudly showed my horrified aunts my frog spawn collections.

After studying Zoology at the University of Edinburgh it was time to depart on my very first adventure and I to South Africa and to complete FGASA level 1, the perfect job to show people, rocks, feathers, frogs, footprints and skulls which was both impressive and welcomed!

It has been a few years since I was in the driver’s seat and I have remained in the African tourism sector from marketing destinations, curating trips for clients to running a lodge in the heart of South Luangwa. If I’m not working, I am exploring. I have a love affair for getting as wild and remote as possible and recently developed a passion for West Africa with its relatively untouched spaces, new (to me) species and the ability to do most of it on bare foot.

My curious little mind gets just as excited about the small things as it does the big from the majestic predators and great apes to the tiny little butterflies, birds and beetles hidden among the forest floors. Nothing makes me happier than finding a new species, watching animals interact or getting a sharp picture of something unique. It gives me great delight to think some of my work may inspire others to go see a species, a place, a country for themselves, question ethics, make good choices and protect the wild world around us. Having completed a wildlife forensics course in early 2025, I am keen to not only inspire people to see and connect with wildlife but to actively protect it.

My favourite animal is a dung beetle and just like them I am somewhat of a hopeless romantic looking to the stars to guide me, willing to put in the hard work, pushing along anyone that wants to join the adventure and doing a little happy dance with the sight of fresh dung!
